What is Japanese IVF?
Japanese IVF is a philosophical approach to IVF that often runs counter to traditional IVF thinking. It attempts to achieve pregnancy success using less medication with fewer side-affects and complications compared to “traditional” IVF treatments
Instead of 10, 15,20+ injections during the course of an IVF cycle adding thousands of dollars to an already costly treatment , Japanese IVF may require as few as 3-5 injection, or just oral medication or no medications at all.
Instead of forcing the Ovary to produce dozens of eggs when over 50% will not be viable, Japanese IVF stimulates only those eggs that will most likely lead to a normal healthy baby thus avoiding many of the side-effects typically associated with conventional IVF (nausea, bloating, headaches, mood swings, discomfort, etc.).
Instead of egg retrievals using a 17g needle under general anesthesia, Japanese IVF involves the use of 20g or 21g retrieval needles which are 30%-40% thinner and the retrievals are performed under local anesthesia.
Instead of embryo transfers of multiple embryos using hormone injections, Japanese IVF transfers involve only hormones in oral or vaginal suppository form (occasional no hormones at all) and, usually, the transfer of a single embryo to minimize the risk of multiple gestations.
Pregnancy success with less medication, fewer side-effects and fewer complications.
